Growth CEO Interviews
Interview with Action Solar CEO, Haysam Sakar
August 21, 2026
Some CEOs chase the fastest growth curve. Others build the foundation strong enough to survive when the curve bends. The best know the difference, and know when each one matters.
In this conversation, Kevin sat down with Haysam Sakar, CEO of Action Solar, a fully integrated energy platform based in Utah that has grown from $1 million to more than $60 million in revenue. Before solar, Haysam spent 20 years founding and building three companies in the automotive and finance industries, and he’s brought that same operating discipline into an industry that’s long rewarded sales volume over staying power. He’s also a co-founder of the Residential Solar Association and has lobbied at the state level to help protect the industry from legislation that would have gutted the market.
Haysam shares the real story behind that growth: why he built the company around operations before sales, what “foundation over fast money” means in practice, and how the shift from doing everything himself to trusting the right people changed what the business could scale to. We also get into how he tracks lender earnings calls and industry data to spot risk before it hits, why he believes growth is about doing fewer things better rather than more, and the leadership lessons that came out of some expensive mistakes along the way.
If you’re leading a growing company and want to build something that holds up when the market shifts, not just when it’s easy, there’s a lot here worth your time.
