Hopefully, over the holidays, you’ll have quality time with people you care about – even with those family or friends who can make the holidays a little more ‘interesting’. The uncle who gets a little offside or the aunt who tells inappropriate stories.
One of the traditions I like is the old ‘questions around the table’ game, which I know some people – including my kids – aren’t as crazy about.
But, for me, it’s about taking the time to reflect on the year and to think about, share and hear all the great things that have happened to everyone important to me.
Head and Heart Success
Now, everyone defines ‘success’ differently, but I find they usually fall into two categories: head success which brings feelings of achievement; and heart success, which brings a sense of enjoyment.
So, inspired by Chapter 1of Your Oxygen Mask First (Live an Amazing Life), here are some questions to consider asking around your table:
-
- Heart success:
What was your highlight experience of the year – something you experienced that brought you satisfaction and will remember for a long time
-
- Head success:
What is something you accomplished – either alone or with other people – that you’re really thrilled about?
-
- More challenging:
What is your number one success from the whole year?
Have wonderful time, together…Happy Holidays!
